SuperMom!

Hi Everyone,

If you are looking for the Outlawz 2000 Member Tutorial Blog Hop click here.

Well, school has wrapped up for the year and like every other year, I am busiest in the last ten days.  I really do feel like SuperMom!!  With last minute school routines, doctor's appointments, karate grading and music recitals and last but not least getting ready to go to the cottage!!   My husband decided to work from home yesterday and couldn't believe all I get done in that last day before we go up to our cottage!!  But we're here and it's over and it's time to enjoy the downtime with my family. I am so grateful for this blessing!!

Now, it's time for a fun and a new exciting challenge over at MayzyArt!! Thank you to all that participated in our Black challenge!! The theme this time is  'Flight of Fancy '. There is so many ways to interpret it so let's see what your take is on it!! Here is mine, to get your creative juices flowing:

Here I am, all decked out to handle last week! lol   Funny how some of these challenges fit what's happening in your life at that moment!  This little cutie is by Mayzy called SuperMom.  I printed her out on X-press It and then coloured with copics.  I layered the ribbon and added two lacey squares with similiar papers.  I added stickles to the heart and ribbon in her hair and some liquid glass on her boots, soother and lips. Lastly, I added some blue gems to finish it off!  Hope you like it!

Head on over to MayzyArt in our 'Flight of Fancy' challenge and get on in, on a chance to win some of her wonderful digis! You can find her shop here.

Thanks for stopping in!

Outlawz 2000 Member Blog Hop!

Hi Everyone!

Today is the day to celebrate over at the Outlawz!! We are now over 2000 members strong!  We are celebrating in many ways!  You can get in on all the fun by clicking here to see where to start.  I am one of the eight blogs involved in the Tutorial Blog Hop, as well as being here to inspire you to participate in our Copic Challenge Group .  Our theme is Where in the World.  I chose to celebrate my country, and you can choose however the theme speaks to you!  I look forward to enjoying all of your creations!  I also have the privilege of debuting a new digi by MayzyArt ,  She is called Canadian Pride.  She was made for all us Canadians with just this challenge in mind, so be sure to head on over and get yours!  She also has many different images that would fit this challenge perfectly!  This is my card for the challenge as well as my tutorial.

A closer look at the top.

A closer to look at the bottom.

Now, let's move on to show how you too can make your own twisted easel card!

This card is entered in the following challenges:

Anything Goes - Anything to do with travel.
The Squirrel and Fox - Make it Sparkle
Stampin Sisters' in Christ - Use flags
The Crafty Pad - More than one fold
Addicted to Stamps - Sketch

Twisted Easel Tutorial

Things you will need:
(the punch, stamp, ink, and clear embossing powder are for making the leaves on my card)

The first step is to cut a piece of cardstock as your card base 5 1/2 x 11. Now you are ready to score the center of your card at 5 1/2 and then turn your card to the first half and score it diagonally from the bottom center of the card to the outer corner.

Now you can decorate the bottom of your card. Cut a square 5 1/2 inches and then layer a piece of designer paper 5 1\4 square on top and glue it to the bottom.

Now close your card and you are going to glue only the bottom half of the card.  Next cut another 5 1/2 square with a 5 1/4 piece of designer paper matted on it, and glue it to the bottom half of the card.

Ok, you are almost there, now you can choose something to raise up on pop dots to rest your easel on. I chose a scalloped oval to rest my card on.

Great work, now you can decorate however you like!!

Harmony!

Hi Friends,

There is a new sketch challenge that Mayzy is sponsoring over at the Friday Sketch Challenge and we as her Design Team wanted to get in on the action!  Here is the sketch.

I love sketch challenges, it gives you a head start on which direction your card is going to take!! Here is what I came up with!!

This is Harmony by Mayzy, I love all her ringlets! I added liquid glass to her eyes and flute to make them shiny!  Her trim and ribbons were given some stickles to make them sparkle!!  The vine I used is by Cherry Lynn and the flowers by Wild Orchid. The sentiment was stamped and then embossed and is by Close to my Heart. Mayzy has the most amazing talent and her work is one of the best out there! Be sure to check out her shop.   You won't be disappointed!!

So remember to join us and their Design Team over at the Friday Sketch challenge for a chance to win some of her fabulous images!

I got this boys!

Hi Friends,

Thank goodness it's friday!  We have a new exciting challenge this week and the theme is Picnic/BBQ/Summer food.  There is so many ways to put your own spin on it!  Here is my take on the challenge.

I love the attitude on this women, it's like she stormed over to the lake to show the men how to fish!!  I am not attracted to fishing in the least bit!  Dirt, worms, and stinky slimy fish, no thanks!  My hubby and girls love it, and will catch and clean it outside and then we cook it up on the BBQ, and my job is to eat it!  So let's see what you all can do with this weeks theme in our Copic Challenge Group.

Lazy Days of Summer!

Hello Everyone,

Do remember the movie Grease, with Olivia Newton John and John Travolta?  If you're like me, I loved it!  I am a big fan of musicals and this week our challenge in Through the Craftroom Door is inspired by the song 'Summer Lovin' from the movie Grease.  So dig out your records if you have em, or get on line and google the song to see what part of it inspires you!  Here is my take on the words.

This cutie is by Bugaboo and he reminds me of the verse, 'he showed off splashing around'.  You can just picture him at the beach, trying desperately to impress some girls, lol.  I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations in our new challenge in Through the Craftroom Door.

Catchin up!

Hi friends,

For those of you that know me well, I make plans in my head and really do my best to remember them all!  Believe it or not, I have now admitted to myself that my old ways are no longer reliable!  Yes, I am now writing lists for myself so I don't have to count on my memory.  I know my mother in law is just beside herself at this very post as she has been trying to get me to write things down for years!!  I'm not sure if my life has gotten busier or my memory has gotten worse but the one thing I know for sure is I will do whatever I can to be someone you can count on!!  On that note, I spent the day organizing the next two weeks in detail to prepare for a summer at the cottage without my scrapping supplies.  The only thing I will have access to is my markers so I needed to prepare my design team project layouts ahead of time!!  I'll let you know if I was able to keep up on my lists!!

Hope your all enjoying this beautiful weather, thanks for stopping by!

Black is Back!

Hi Everyone,

Are you ready to join me at MayzyArt for a new Challenge?  The theme is black, so whatever that might mean to you is what we want to see.  I can't wait to see all the the different interpretations out there!   Here's my spin on the black theme.

I love a woman who takes charge!  I often do not let my hubby know all that I can do with tools because if I do, it then becomes my responsibility, kwim!  So as far as that goes I leave all the fix it to my hubby!  This is my first attempt at black and white colouring, I'll have to keep practicing to get it just right!  I look forward to be inspired by all your wonderful creations!

Home Safe and Sound!

Hi Everyone,

I'm home safe and sound!  Our trip to Vegas was fantastic and exhausting at the same time!  I'm happy to be home and away from all the smoke!  It is amazing how much my everyday is not affected by smokers and then you immerse yourself in an environment that is, and how if affects you.  Our clothes and hair from the time we woke up to the end of the day had a smoky smell, yucky!  Aside from that, we had minimal loss at the slot machines and took in and enjoyed many shows and attractions.  I'll be sure to get the pictures in a slide show for you later.  Heading to bed so I can make Father's day special for my honey tomorrow!!

Boobie Love!

Hello Everyone,

It's that time again to join us over at the Outlawz in the Friday Copic challenge group for a new challenge. This week our theme is your Favourite Colour Combo.  Do you have certain colours that you find yourself reaching for quite often?  Come and share them with us in your newest creation!!  Here is one of mine.

I love pink and R85, R83 and R81 are one of my favourite go to colour combinations!  With pink, I also love to add brown to get a real contrast!!  This paper pack is by First Edition called Sweet Owl.  My sweet little girl is by Saturated Canary called Boobie Love, I love her sassy pose!!  I embossed the background as well as inked it.  The pink carnations are from Wild Orchids and I tied the special bow to signify Breast Awareness with a Thank You charm. Some stickles to make her shine with a few heart gems to finish her off!

Hope you like it and will join us to show me your favourites this week in the Friday Copic Challenge Group. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam!

Hello friends,

I thought I would show you a few of the pictures from our day today.  I didn't have time to put them in a slideshow so just scroll down to have a look. We ordered the video but it will be mailed out to us later.

This is the actual famous Las Vegas sign that you probably have seen in many movies!  All the above pictures were taken on the move so some may be a little blurry.  I will be sure to give you a better commentary when I put them in a slideshow!

Well Rested and Ready!

Hi Everyone,

It's amazing how a sound sleep and a good breakfast can get you off to a great start in the morning!  Todd and I were in bed by 10pm after being up for 18 hours from the time we left home.  We woke up and ordered some room service for breakfast.  Here's how it looked!

I felt like royalty all decked out in my hotel robe having breakfast on white linens!!  We were all ready to start our day!  We went down to the pool deck until lunch and read a book.  Although most of that time I was in the pool to cool off.  If you didn't catch my last post, it is holy cow hot!  I'm not complaining, just saying!!  We are going to Celine Dion tonight and planning a helicopter ride in the morning over the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam.  I hope to get some pictures for you to see!

My posts are late because of the time difference and I'm doing them when I get in at night!  Thanks for checking in!

Hot, Hot, and Hot!

Hello Everyone,

Wowee!  I like the heat and love to lay by the pool but OM Goodness I have never experienced heat like this before!!  Todd and I made our way to the pool deck at 4 in the afternoon and it was still 39 degrees.  We ordered ourselves a Daquiri to toast the start of our trip and when it came it was 24 oz drink with 3 shots in it and needless to say, I drank half of it and headed up to the room with a buzz!  Remember,  I've been up for 13 hours by now and on rare occasions will have an alcohol beverage.  After having a short nap, I am still ready to crash for the night so I can enjoy all the wonderful plans we have made for our stay here!  I'll keep you posted hopefully with some pictures tomorrow.

Hope all is well with you, thanks for stopping by!

Best Friends!

Hello Everyone!

I have a real treat for you today!  Abigail made a card yesterday with my copics and she is so proud of how it turned out! So without further adieu, here it is!

She originally made it for her best friend but later decided she couldn't part with it!  It really impresses me how much my girls really absorb when I give them gentle instruction! Isn't it fabulous!

Next time I post, I'll be doing it from Las Vegas, yipee!  Thanks for stopping by!

Getting Ready to go!

Hi Everyone,

Two days and I'll be on a plane to meet my hubby in Las Vegas! I can't wait!  Design Team projects are now done and next on my list is to finish up the laundry and do some grocery shopping.  Tomorrow, once I get the kids off to school, I'll finish the last minute errands and then pack for my trip!!  The airport taxi picks me up tuesday morning at 5:45am yikes!  I will be sharing photos from our trip during the week and my cards will debut at the end of the week, so stay tuned!

Class of 2012!

Hello Everyone,

It's that time again to join me over at the Outlawz in the Copic Challenge Group for a new challenge! The theme this week is Graduation and or Congratulations! The month of June is full of reasons to celebrate so I'm sure you will have many to choose from!! Here is my card to help you get the creative juices flowing!

This little cutie is a new one from this month's sponsor  Saturated Canary.   I used a CB embossing folder in the background  and rolled ink on it before I sent it through the cuttlebug so it would stand out more! The banner is from Close to my Heart and the words are an alphabet that you can colour,  then rub off the excess ink to reveal the white dots.  I added some stars and ribbon to dress it up.  His hat and shoes got a dose of liquid glass to make them shiny and some stickles to the tassle to make it shine!

Be sure to come and join in on the fun this week over at the Outlawz! Thanks for stopping by!

Colouring me Happy!

Hello Everyone,

I spent the day to myself colouring up some of my Design Team Projects with a big smile on my face!! I have always loved to have many people around me but when it comes to designing and colouring my images, I love the peace of being all alone!

I had the pleasure of chatting with Jo from the Outlawz today and she is a wealth of information!  I learned all about digital papers and how you can print them off. You know there hasn't been one chat that she hasn't taught me something, I'm loving every minute of our times together!!

Be sure to check back with me tomorrow for a new Challenge over at the Outlawz in the Copic Challenge Group! Thanks for stopping in!

Grandpa Bear!

Hi Everyone,

Back on my feet again, thank goodness!  We have a new challenge for you in Through the Craftroom Door and the theme is distressing.  So whether you want to sand it, tear it, ink it or have the papers that are already distressed, it's all up to you but we want to see it!  Guylou is our sponsor for this challenge and you can find her awesome talent here.  Here is may card to help get the creative juices flowing!

This is her Grandpa Bear, isn't he soo cute!!  This was the first time that I have ever made my own colour by layering copics to make the burgundy coat.  The picture is quite dark but in person the card is a lot lighter in colour.  Now distressing is not something I normally do but I did my best for this challenge.  I sanded all my papers first, then inked them to give them dimension. Next I embossed the clock background and used a brayer to roll ink on the raised area so you could see it better.  Lastly I tore it to give age to the paper.  That's about the best I can do when it comes to distressing without stressing me out! lol  Grandpa Bear is coloured with copics and I added stickles to bow tie and liquid glass to his hat, nose, eyes and the pads of his feet to make them shiny. I can't wait to see what you have for me!!

Dizzy!

Hi friends,

I am not up and about today!  I'm not sure what I have did but I woke up with an extreme case of vertigo.  So much so that I couldn't get out of bed without assistance.  My hubby took me to the chiropractor to get my neck adjusted and I've been in bed until now.  I am now on the couch and feeling a little better but still dizzy and  nauseous.  Remember as a kid how spinning around fast to make yourself dizzy was a form of entertainment.  Yeah, don't get it as an adult! lol  I would prefer the room would stay still!  Hope to feel better soon!

At Play!

Hello Everyone,

All I can say is I was at play all day!  I haven't accomplished very much but have learned a few new techniques to try with future cards.  I went to support a friends Stampin Up business this afternoon and spent the evening with my good friend Charlene figuring out different sandwiches to put through the cuttlebug with some dies that she has just bought.  Although I am not coming away with any finished project, I feel a great sense of fullfillment.  After all, it's supposed to be about the journey not the destination!!  I rather enjoyed the journey today!!

Me and my Girls!

Hi friends,

I have the most enjoyable long weekend alone with my two girls!  Todd has had the girls for the past two weekends while I've been at the cottage with my sister's and in Buffalo at the CK convention so I wanted to have them all to myself!  Todd had wanted to go up to the cottage so we sent him to enjoy it on his own!

So I asked them what they would like to do for our girl's weekend and you'll never guess what they said!  Abigail wanted to go shopping with her gift cards and Hailey wanted to get her ears pierced so that's exactly what we did!  It was so much fun just relaxing and listening to my two little girls share their life with me.  There were many times I wanted to jump in with my opinion but I kept it to myself. (believe it or not) lol   Sometimes life gets so busy with doing things we forget to sit back and just listen. I'm sure glad I did!

Thanks for checking in on me!

Fluffy and Abigail!

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank all of you for joining us at MayzyArt for the start of our challenges.  Today we have a new one starting and the theme is Circus. She has so many fabulous images that you could colour that suit this theme or if you already have one, feel free to use it!  Here is my card to inspire you to play along.

This is Fluffy the Lion and I named her trainer after my daughter Abigail.  I wanted to design a tent that would star this act so I came up with this. Lots of sparkle and bling to attract an audience! I used star brads to tie back the flaps and found a free circus font to download for the title. I added liquid glass to the lions ears, eyes, nose and nails. Hope you like it!!

Come on over to MayzyArt  for our new circus challenge. I can't wait to see all your wonderful creations!

A Day at the Beach!

Hello to all my friends,

Thank Goodness it's Friday and we all know what that means, a new challenge over at the Outlawz in the Copic Challenge Group.  The theme is Summer and we have Saturated Canary sponsoring us this month.  Here is the card I created to help you get started.

This little cutie is a Saturated Canary digital stamp, you can find her and others here.  Krista Smith is the artist behind these cuties, she is so talented!  There is so many that you won't be able to live without!!  In creating this card I used scraps of the beach papers and built around it.  I had some shell brads and stamped some flip flops on my ribbon to tie it to the theme.  Some liquid glass on her lips, eyes and the pail.  I added stickles to her skirt and ties in her hair and added some liquid glass to my starfish to finish it off.

I'm ready for summer, how about you?  Stop by the Copic Challenge Group  and show me what summer means to you. Thanks for checking in!!
