Me and my BFF!

Hi friends,

I am on the right track to recovering from a crazy weekend!  I met with my best friend Heather in Oakville today for lunch to celebrate her birthday. There is something magical about the times I spend with her! We have been friends for 18 years and have been through the good, the bad and the ugly and we still love our times together!  It doesn't matter how much time passes between our get togethers,  we pick up where we left off! I thank God for all my friends and the joy that they bring to my life!

Just in case you are not aware of who I am talking about, I mean all of you too! Thanks for sharing some time with me today!

First Break!

Hello to all my friends,

It has been quite a weekend for the entire Lyons family.  I was up at the cottage with my three sisters to spread my dad's ashes and say our final goodbyes and to clean it and get it ready for the season.  One was emotionally exhausting and the other was physically exhausting!  We had just finished both when my husband had sent me an email with this picture of our seven year old Hailey.

So you can just imagine how I felt not being able to be there to cuddle her!  She fell from the monkey bars at school over the weekend and fractured her elbow.  Look at the smile on her face, children are so resilient.  She even went to her piano recital the next day and played her piece using only her one finger on her right hand.  She's our little trooper!

So that was my weekend, I hope to have an uneventful week to recover! Thanks for stopping by!

Shopping!

Hi friends,

Today is a new challenge over at the House of Gilli Challenge Blog. The theme this time is to use your die cuts and punches.  I am a big fan of dies and punches and I love when you can buys stamps to match!  This is my card for the challenge and it just happens to be the card I gave to my daughter for her 9th Birthday on Sunday.

This could me in Buffalo this past weekend on the vendor floor with a big smile on my face!  A little retail therapy can put a smile on anyone's face!  I used a SB die to mat her on and a SU border punch.  The cupcake border is by EK Success.  I chose to paper piece the shopping bag to tie it all together!

Be sure to join me over in the House of Gilli and show me some of your favourite dies and punches!
Thanks for stopping by!

Buffalo CK Projects!

Hi Everyone,

I had lots of fun creating in Buffalo over the past long weekend!  The best part of the classes is someone does the work for you and you get to put it together!  I love creating but it nice to sit back and enjoy the fruits of another's labour every once in a while.  Here is a card we made in one of my Heartfelt creations classes.

The roses were stamped,  embossed in the bronze and then die cut out!  I love stamps that have matching dies, don't you?  Then you take the die cut flowers and leaves and shape them into a homemade flower.   I didn't use a sentiment so I could use it when I needed it.  I never would paired blue and bronze together but I love how it turned out!

I hoped you liked it! Thanks for stopping by!

Playtime!

Hello to all my friends,

I finally got to unpack some of the goodies I bought in Buffalo and play!  I made a card that I will post friday with some of my new stuff!  I also bought some tools to help me organize some of my supplies and I am so happy with how it turned out!  It is amazing how much excitement I get out of the simplest of things.

Tomorrow I will post some of the projects I did in Buffalo.  I took four Heartfelt Creations classes and two Paper Loft classes.  I can't wait to show you what I've made!

That's all for me today, thanks for stopping by!

Back to Normal!

Hi friends,

I can finally say that things are back to normal, not that I'm not busy, but all things are manageable!  Now that the party is over, I can get the week organized so I can head up to the cottage with my sister's this weekend.  Every year I head up north to do the spring cleaning up there and my sister comes with me to help.  This year all three of my sister's are coming because we are burying our dad's ashes. He passed away at the end of last year and we have been waiting until the spring to bury him.  I am looking forward to sharing all the wonderful memories we have of him!

Hope everyone enjoyed the gorgeous weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Abby's Party!

Hello Everybody,

What a wonderful exhausting day!  From the time I opened my eyes until this very minute, I have not sat down!  I started my day by dipping five dozen peanut butter balls in chocolate and made some brownies.  Cleaned the entire house and decorated for the party, wrapped the presents and prepared the food for twenty.   Abigail chose to have family instead of a kid party so we had a backyard pool party.  As tired as I am at this very moment, it was all worth it to see the huge smile on Abby's face!

All her cousins in one place!  She couldn't be happier!

That's all for me today, I'm pooped and ready for bed!  Thanks for stopping by!

For You!

Hi Friends,

Today is the first ever Mayzy challenge and the theme is Flowers.  I want to invite all my friends to stop by Mayzy's Challenge Blog  and join us in this challenge.  If you haven't stopped by before to check out her amazing talent, you will find her digis in her Etsy Shop here.  Here is my card for a little inspiration.

I love pink and green together!  I used a SB heart die and embossed it with a CB folder.  I matted this cutie on a Marianne die and then sponged the inside.  The heart border is by MS and then I added some sparkly pink ribbon.  The sentiment is sparkly green foam letters and I hung a double heart off the the letter 'O'.  I added stickles to the frills on her dress, bow in her hair and the roses in the bouquet. I added liquid glass to the shoes to make them shiny and finished it off with some pink rhinestones.

Come on over and join us in Mayzy's Challenge blog for our first challenge to be eligible to win  free images.  Be sure to check out her shop, I guarantee you'll find at least one you can't live without!

Thanks for stopping by!

Giddy Up!

Hi Everyone,

Thank Goodness it's Friday!  We all know what that means, another fun and exciting challenge over at the Outlawz in the Copic Challenge Group.  The theme this week is a western/rodeo one.  So come on down and show us your western side.  Here's the card  I came up with this week.

Giddy Up!  My little girl loved her horse on a stick, she would ride around the house all day and pinch the ear because it would make a very, very loud  'neigh' sound!  I won't tell you how many times I nearly dove into the floor out of fright! lol  The papers are by Close to my Heart and I used an embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  I paper pieced the shirt to match the checkered design paper.  The mat is a die from SB and the stars are a border punch by EK Success. I used a  SU Arrow punch to put my sentiment on and added some sparkly stars and blue gems to finish it all off.

So come on down and show me your western roots! Thanks for stopping by!

I'll be sure to share my weekend with you as I can.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a new challenge over in the Friday Copic Challenge at the Outlawz.  Thanks for checking in!

Tomorrow's the Day!

Hello Everybody,

A full day of running errands in order to be ready for Abigail's 9th Birthday party when I get home from the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Buffalo.  I get home from Buffalo Sunday and have twenty-one for dinner on Monday.  With everything closed on Monday because of the holiday, I need to shop for all fresh goods, the cake and the balloons as I  soon as I get home!  Once I make it in the house I have brownies and five dozen peanut butter balls to prepare for the party.  In the morning, I need to clean the house and decorate for the party before noon!  I believe I have painted a good picture of why I am sooo looking forward to the next three days of  R&R with my friends in Buffalo scrapbooking, don't ya think?

I'll be sure to check in and keep you posted on all the bargains and of course, the shenanigans!  Six women together with no responsibilities equals trouble of all kinds! lol  Thanks for stopping by!

Hi!

Hello to all my friends,

It's the middle of the month and we are all set with a new Challenge for you in Through the Craftroom Door.  The theme this week is a photo inspired one that leaves lots of room for interpretation!
Here's the photo.

Love all the bright colours!  Our sponsor this month are Gilli Stamps who has a goodie bag for the winner and Michelle Perkett with a $10.00 gift certificate.  These colours totally reminded me of a DCWV pack I have called Citrus, so I designed this card for a little inspiration!

This little cutie is a Giili stamp in her Pj's!  She totally reminds me of the jammies I like to wear in the winter to get cozy!  I used a new Cherry Lynn die for my sun and a EK Success border punch.  I paper pieced her jammies and added stickles to her bow and pockets.  All tied to together with a big satin bow!  I could just see her stumble into the kitchen to her parents in the morning with a big "Hi!"  If it were me it would probably be a grunt. (I'm not a morning person) It takes me a little bit to wake up and be cheery, my husband total opposite.  God certainly has a sense of humour when he puts opposites together, don't ya think?

Hope you have started your day on the right foot and will join us in our new challenge!  Thanks for stopping by!

Got to spend some wonderful time in my craftroom with another great friend Cindy today and the time just flew by!  We had so much fun creating side by side!

Be sure to join me tomorrow for a new challenge in Through the Craftroom door. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wanna Cuddle?

Hi Everyone,

I have another treat for you today!  My girls have entered another challenge at Craft your Passion Kids Challenges. The theme is Buttons and Bling  and their images are chosen from their sponsor this month Meijen Stamps. This card is by Abigail.

Abigail is thrilled to be using my copics and creating cards for challenges!  I am so proud of how talented she is!  Both girls have created for this challenge so I need to make two seperate posts so I can enter them in the challenge.  Please be sure to check out Hailey's card as well!

Be sure to share your comments with Abigail, I know she'll be looking forward to reading them! Thanks for stopping in!

Happiness!

Hello to all my friends,

This month I was asked to be a guest designer over at The House of Gilli Challenge Blog.  The theme is embossing. Be sure to put on your thinking caps and pull out your embossing tools and show us what you got!   Here is my card. It is entered in the Colour Me Creative Classroom for their anything goes challenge.

Isn't she soo cute!  I used my brayer and inked it with chocolate ink and rolled it on my Tim Holtz embossing folder so that when the folder pressed into the paper it picked up the ink to make the impression more noticeable! I love how it look like real bark!  I also wet embossed the sentiment.  I paper pieced her purse but the print was so large you can barely tell. I added stickles to the belt and the button on the purse.  I used some liquid glass on her shoes to make them shiny and tied it all together with a silk ribbon.

Be sure to come and join us and show us your embossing talent! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Into the Garden!

Hello Everybody,

It's Friday and we all know what that means!  It's the start of a new and exciting challenge over at the Outlawz Copic Group.  The theme for this week is Garden/Gardening .  You may interpret it however you like!  For those of you out there that know me well, the only thing that I keep alive in my house is my children, thank goodness! lol  I love the look of flowers and have spent money on beautiful arrangements that require no help from me!  Anyhow, here is my card.

Gerber Daisies are my favourite flower but tulips would be a close second!  I stamped this Magnolia image on neenah cardstock with memento ink and then coloured it with copics. I only used one punch and one die on this project.  A MS pansy flower punch and a Cherry Lynn leafy vine die.  The rest of the layering is all rounded off with a corner rounder.  I added some stickles to the tulips and some liquid glass to the tire to make it look shiny.  I used some pretty pink mini roses and pink jewels to finish it off!

My gardening is done, now be sure to get to yours over to us in the Friday Copic Challenge Group.  We have a fabulous sponsor this month offering a $15 gift certificate from Can you Digi it.  So come and show me your green thumb!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hydrangea!

Hello to all my Friends,

I got to spend a little time today in my craftroom  so I created a card for you.  This is definitely one of my favourite colour combos!

I love purple and green together! The papers are by DCWV called Latte.  The green border is a MS border punch and the hydrangeas were matted on a SB die.  I used the window punch to stamp the sentiment on from Stampin up.  The square jewels are by Basic Grey and I tied it together with some green satin ribbon with a heart embellishment by Epiphany Crafts.

I'm always thinking about all my friends and pray that they are well! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Bling Crazy!

Hello to all my friends,

I have been busy in the craftroom but not creating my cards, I've been helping my girls put together their cards for the upcoming challenge.  It is amazing how they are drawn to all things that sparkle, from paper to jewels and everything in between. I let them lay it all out first and then had them evaluate if they needed it all and I was able to recover some of the cost on the card! lol  I love being able to share my passion with my girls but I'm not able to create alongside them because I'm still nervous about not supervising the use of some of the tools.  I can't wait to show you their finished projects!! Soon!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Babies!

Hello Everyone,

It has been a very busy weekend with lots of travelling, from Stoney Creek to Mount Forest and everywhere in between.  The last part of this weekend was a baby shower in Mount Forest for a distant relative who is having twins!  I don't know what it is about babies that make you miss the time when your own were that small, but it happens to me everytime!  There was a three week old little girl there and I just turned into mush getting close to her!  Just like you forget labour, we also forget the work that little ones are after we pass that stage.  As I looked over at the little girl's mother she was almost asleep in the chair while all the other women took turns holding her baby.  Then I remember all the sleepless nights, crying and all the less glamorous work that the cute little one brings to your life.  Having said that, I wouldn't change a thing because the positive far outweighs the negitive but when they are that small it is hard to believe it sometimes!  So for me, I'm good with the memories of when they were small and will cherish all the joy that comes with this stage in my girl's life and take it a  moment at a time!

That's all for me, thanks for popping in!

Award for Me!

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited that a fellow crafter has honoured me with the Liebster Blog Award!

To give you a little background on the award:

"The origins of the Liebster Blog award are somewhat unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany, Liebster meaning favorite or dearest, to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting the award the recipient must then pass it on to five more blogs of note."

I would like to thank my friend Ina of Little Bits of Crafts for choosing me to receive the Liebster Award.  Ina has some fabulous creations and I urge you to go to her blog http://littlebitsofcraft.blogspot.com.au/ and check it out. You won't be disappointed!

This is  what you do as a presenter of this award!

1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
2. Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you.
3. Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.
4. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 5 blogs of 200 followers or less who you feel deserve it.
5. Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment at their blog

So without further adieu, my choices for the next recipients of this award are as follows:

Jo Ann Atterbury - J. Atterbury Creations
Shari Mc Laughlin - Pickled Memories
NannyConnie - Grammy's Attic
Ann Fran - Ann Fran
I know the 5 ladies I chose all do fabulous work and I enjoy visiting them regularly.
Now,  the 5 people I have chosen need to choose 5 of their own!
Congrats to all of you and I look forward to seeing who you choose next!

Hello Everybody,

It's Friday and we all know what that means!  A new fun and exciting challenge in our Copic Challenge Group over at the Outlawz!  Our wonderful sponsor this month is Can You Digi it.   Be sure to check them out, they have some awesome images that are so much fun to colour!!  The theme this week is a Mother's day card or a much loved female in your life.  I lost my mom to cancer five  years ago so I made my card for a dear friend.

I printed out my digi image from our sponsor on some cream coloured neenah cardstock and then coloured it with my copics.  The papers are by Close to my Heart.  I used my new border punch by EK Success and my heart embellishment on my bow is made by Epiphany Crafts.  I paper pieced one of the cups and added some liquid glass to make it shiny and added to stickles to the striped one.  Lastly some jewels and a ribbon to tie it all together.

As I type this post with my cup of tea, I hope you will enjoy it with a cup of your own!  Be sure to join us and give me a chance to share in some of your works of art!

Volunteer Duty!

Hi Friends,

Spent the day on a class trip to the museum in Kitchener to see their Medieval exhibit because Abigail is studying this time in history.  I am amazed as an adult how much I retain from these class trips!  I'll tell you one thing for sure, I am not cut out for what women represented back then!  If you live in the area and get a chance to make it out there, you will not be disappointed!  There was six different sections that went over everything from clothes to weapons.  The production company that runs the seminars are wonderful and stay true to character!  That was my day, I hope you had a great one!

Be sure to join me tomorrow for a new challenge over at the Outlawz. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Student Again!

Hello Everyone,

I had lots of fun today in my craftroom today now that I can actually find what I'm looking for! lol  To top that off, I arranged for a babysitter so I could attend a class on how to use my new Silhouette Cameo and it was fantastic!!  The class was at Two Scrapbook Friends and was well worth the $20 to take it!  I have to thank my bestie Sandra for sending me the email regarding the class!  I'm gonna spend some time practicing and then I'll be sure to post some of my work.  You know, all the years I spent in school were no way near as enjoyable as being a student in the school of scrapbooking! I wouldn't mind taking the time to get my masters in it! lol

Thanks for stopping by!

Dress Up!

Hello friends,

It's that time again to get you creative juices flowing and to come over to Through the Craftroom Door for another fun and exciting challenge.  The theme for this challenge is a Mother's Day card and the added element is Pearls.  For some of us out there who may not have our mothers with us anymore, feel free to make it for a special friend.  Here is my card for a little inspiration.

This little cutie is by La La Land stamps and I thought she was perfect for this challenge.  She was coloured with copics and then cut out and matted on the oval.  The papers are Summer Blossoms by Close to my Heart.  The border punch is by EK success and the oval die is by Cheery Lynn.  I added stickles and a liquid pearl to the flower on her hat, liquid pearls in the centre of my flower embellishments and her necklace was given dimension with  liquid pearls as well!  She's all dressed up and ready to go!

Be sure to come and join me , I look forward to being inspired by your creative work! Thanks for stopping by!
